Hi Lovely ladies..

Today I am sharing with you my Mac collection. Before starting of review I would like to share my purchasing experience of MAC.As I went to India In December and had an awesome time with family. Ludhiana (Punjab, India) was the stop for my MAC shopping (with the total bill coming to Rs 14000) !!!

Now the reviews of these gorgeous lipsticks!

What MAC Lipsticks claim?
Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street!! This made MAC famous.

Price:  990 INR /£ 14(UK) for  3 g

Availability: Any Mac store

Packaging: Packaging is quite impressive. It comes in black outer case with silver from inside. MAC brand is endorsed with silver colour outside the lid and with black colour in the inner side of the case. It is very sturdy and travel friendly too. There is no indication of colour from outside which is a big disadvantage and can be time consuming as need to open each and every lipstick to locate the colour. Otherwise packaging is very classy!!!

From left to right swatches description of each and every shade:

Taupe Matte Lipstick

It is one of the pretty matte lipsticks which is reddish-brown in colour and best suited for all skin tones. It does stay longer without eating or drinking. But after fading it leaves a nice stain .You can add some gloss to give glossy effect to your lips. It does not smudge or bleed at all. As it is matte in texture, does not dry out your lips. It goes very well with all attires (Indian or western). You can wear this lipstick in office as well, so can double up as regular wear lipstick. It is quite impressive shade and must be everyone’s stash. It is one of the pretty nude colours. Pigmentation is superb. You can apply lip liner as well it’s up to your own wish.

Impassioned Amplified Crème Lipstick:

It is very pretty bright pink colour. This is one of my favourite pink lipsticks, Impassioned owns my heart. It's very creamy, rich and long lasting colour that works very well from medium to fair skin beauties. It stays longer at least 5 or 6 hours, leaves a nice pink stain behind and keeps my lips still look gorgeous or elegant. The colour glides smoothly on my lips and contains a slight sheen. My lips look very much juicier or fuller when I wear this colour and brightens my look as well .This wouldn’t be worn all the time as only best for evening parties or on any other occasion. There is no need of lip liner as it looks elegant and gorgeous on its own. I would definitely recommend this one as it contains moisture, is creamy in texture and superb pigmentation. Definitely give a try!!!

Amorous:

MAC describes it as ‘Lovestruck Cranberry’. It is the perfect deep pink/plum colour. Can be described more as a dark reddish purple. This is a really gorgeous colour for all lovely beauties.  I love this colour and is one of my favourites as it really brightens my face and whole look. Finish is totally satin, shows a little shinier on my lips, can say semi-matte. It does not dry out my lips as little creamy in texture. It stays almost 3-4 hours without eating or drinking but does leaves a nice tint while fading. You can do touch up again after eating or drinking. This colour would suit all skin tones. Single swipe build up good colour. Pigmentation is superb and fragrance is very pleasant too. It goes very well with all attires whether Indian or western. It doesn’t bleed at all, stays nicely on lips and very smooth as well. I would highly recommend this colour.

Lickable Crème sheen Lipstick:

It is a bright clean blue pink. This one is very pretty shade and one of my kinds and instantly brightens up my face. It is creamy in texture, does not dry out the lips and has a little shimmer as well. It is suitable for fair to medium skin tones it’s really pigmented. The staying power also is amazing.

Summing up,

Pros:

  • Different shades of variety in all texture.
  • Long lasting colour
  • Fragrance is very pleasant
  • Brightens up the Look
  • Does not dry out the lips
  • Number of shades for all skin tones
  • Superb Pigmentation
  • Glides smoothly on Lips
  • Classy Packaging
  • Does not cause any reaction or allergies to skin
  • Travel friendly

Cons:

  • A bit expensive
  • Color indication not shown outside the case

Overall Rating : 4/5

Final Verdict: I adore MAC Lipsticks. Each and every color is so beautiful in its own way, so everyone should give a try…Superb Pigmentation, does not dry out your lips. Different ranges of shades. Glides smoothly on lips and leaves behind an elegant tint while fading. Brightens up the face what else we want so go and grab at least one!!!

Hope you all like my reviews!!! Your comments/suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks everyone…

MUA Intense Kisses Lipgloss Stolen Kisses Review& Swatch

$

Hello friends

This is my first review for MBL and I am super happy to be a part of this lovely blog. Thanks a lot sukanya <3. MUA bug has bitten me bad, and there is no antidote. Sigh! And the fact that they keep running awesome discounts is very unhealthy for my already non existing budget. Just few months back I was super shy of shimmer glosses and anything that has red tint. :P but then curiosity got the better out of me ( read pink one was out of stock ) so I ended up ordering this beauty. Well! And the name of this gloss was tempting as well. Now, don’t raise your brows, I am not going to give you sassy details. ;)

Product says: The newest lip gloss in the MUA range! Intense Kisses lip gloss £2 each. They are sealed with a kiss in a high-intensity gloss which comes in a wide range of bold colours adds just the right amount of glamour to lips whether you're strutting down the street or the red carpet. Wear alone or over your favourite MUA lipstick colour for gorgeous kissable lip effect. Now it's time to pucker those lips up and get kissing away with your new intense MUA kiss lip gloss... MWAH!

A high intensity lip gloss for any occasion! (I love the description :D)

Price: 2 pounds for  5.1 ml

Ingredients: Paraffinum Liquidum, Polybutene, Hydrogenated Styrene/ Isoprene Copolymer Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Cera Microcristallina, Propylparaben, Parfum, BHT + Mica, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77891, CI 42090, CI 15850

Packaging: packaging is simple yet attractive. It comes in a transparent rectangular case, since its transparent one can easily locate the shade easily when in hurry. (Suits me just fine). It has a sponge doe foot applicator, which is decent but not great. It’s not very long. Easily fits in my tiny clutches and its very sturdy. No spillage or leakage. That glittery pout on the top is super cute too, goes well the name. ;)

Shade: it’s a deep shimmery red with micro glitters that are invisible to naked eye (no I did NOT observe it under microscope). It’s not matte; it gives my lips that much needed shine and lusciousness. It’s heavily pigmented, so even a single coat will cover any pigmentation on lips. It can be layered for more intensity.

Texture: I love the texture, its non sticky and hydrating. I have dry lips and most glosses dry out my lips even more, but not this darling. :* even after the ultra light texture it doesn’t lack in the pigmentation department. It’s very creamy plus it doesn’t smell weird. I can detect a hint of vanilla for sure.

Staying power: most glosses don’t even last 1 hour on me, thanks to my excessive water drinking but somehow this one manages to last for 2 or more than 2 hours and wait! That’s not it, it doesn’t fade away completely. It leaves behind a very pretty red tint that I absolutely adore.

Swatches :

On my lips ~

FOTD ~

Let me sum it up in pros and cons

Pros:
  • Array of colours to choose from. From orange to red to pink to mauve to plum.
  • Attractive and useful packaging.
  • Hydrating and non-sticky texture.
  • Affordable.
  • Good staying power.
  • Doesn’t have chunky glitters.

Cons :
  • Availability. :’( ( its available in Jabong.com but its crazily expensive there :X)

My Rating: 4.75/5.

Final verdict: I love this gloss and I am sure I will buy different shades of this range as well. The very attractive names tempt me even more, sealed with a kiss, quick kiss, and quick smooch!!!! . ;)

My recommendation: sure!! Go get it girlies!! I am sure you all will love it.

That’s it for today!! See you soon with another gem in my kitty. ;)

The Body Shop White Musk Libertine Solid Perfume Review

$

I have been literally 'living under the rock' when it comes to fragrances. I am basically a deo person. Suddenly I had this bugging itch to get hold of a good perfume few months back. Thank you all for your suggestions . Before investing on some high end la-li-la-dih EDP, I bought this solid perfume from The Body Shop.

Basically, I feel solid perfumes are more user friendly when it comes to clumsy people like me. I am not much a fan of muskiness, but White musk libertine really smelled sweet and feminine.

What The Body Shop White Musk Libertine Solid Perfume Claims :

Our bold new twist on musk in compact, portable form. This sensual solid fragrance features a heady blend of cruelty-free musks at its top, heart and base, with sweet notes of Turkish delight, baby orchid and Chantilly cream.
Lasting fragrance
Compact and portable
Contains cruelty-free musk
White Musk Libertine scent

Price : 725 INR for 13gms ( Tip* Always buy TBS perfume during sale~ they offer good discount. I missed it this time :/ )

Ingredients : Propylene Glycol Dipelargonate (Skin-Conditioning Agent - Occlusive), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance), Phenyl Trimethicone (Emollient), Mica (Opacifier), Nylon-12 (Absorbent/Bulking Agent), Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer (Viscosity Increasing Agent), Synthetic Wax (Binder/Emollient), Cera Alba/Beeswax (Emulsifier/Emollient), Hydrogenated Castor Oil (Emollient), Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil (Emollient), Ozokerite (Stabiliser), Soybean Glycerides (Skin Conditioning Agent - Emollient), VP/Eicosene Copolymer (Binder/Film former), Linalool (Fragrance Ingredient), Tocopheryl Acetate (Antioxidant), Butyrospermum Parkii/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) (Skin-Conditioning Agent/Emollient), Butyrospermum Parkii Unsaponifiables/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Unsaponifiables (Skin Conditioning Agent), Limonene (Fragrance Ingredient), Laureth-4 (Emulsifier/Surfactant), Coumarin (Fragrance Ingredient), Geraniol (Fragrance Ingredient), Citronellol (Fragrance Ingredient), Eugenol (Fragrance Ingredient), Citral (Fragrance Ingredient), Farnesol (Fragrance Ingredient), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster), CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide (Colorant).

How to Use :
Smooth onto pulse points, décolletage and along collarbone using fingertips.

What I Like about The Body Shop White Musk Libertine Solid Perfume :

  • Compact, cute, travel friendly packaging.
  • When freshly applied, It does not have that * in your face* musky notes, rather the fragrance is very subtle and is more sweet(not very floral though)
  • It has a very fine shimmer , but blends on to skin well
  • Did not irritate my skin
  • EDT ,EDP and Body mists are available from this range ( ~ if you are a layering person)
  • Available through TBS outlets

What I don't Like about The Body Shop White Musk Libertine Solid Perfume:
  • It does not stay long ~ at most 2-3 hours on me
  • It fades away with more of the musky notes. Which honestly, I don't like .
  • Its expensive.
My Rating : 3/5

Final Verdict : If you love musky notes, this one is a must have. It has this perfect balance of muskiness and sweetness to it. Its travel friendly and easy to use and cute ! But if you are not too much into musk notes, skip it because it does not last long and fades with muskiness being predominant.

On a side note, how many of you LOVE shopping online?? Well, I have to admit I am an online shopaholic. Though most of online shopping portals in India offer discounts, it doesn't hurt to have a bit extra, right??

I recently came across www.cuponation.in , which offers discount vouchers of almost all leading online shopping sites in India !!  YEY !!
Check it out !! *happy dance*

Faces Ultime Pro Long Wear Matte Lipstick Peach Blush 05 Review, Swatch ,FOTD

What is wrong with the marketing gurus these days?? Honestly, can anyone please give me one good reason to name a lipstick like this one? It's such a pain to type long names :/

Let's simplify this to Faces pro lipstick (pretty please!) ..ok? Remember I mentioned this one in my gifts post? Haanji, so for the last few days am totally digging this lippi ! No matter what color the season calls for, am always a bit partial to my nude lipsticks.. those which fit to my 'comfort'  zone.

Faces ultime pro Long wear matte lipstick (phew!) Peach Blush falls into that category

Price : 599 INR for 2.5gms

This is after 4.30 hours of applying 3 coats of the lipstick, with a touch up at 4th hour O:)

On my face
Faces Ultime Pro Longwear Lipstick Peach Blush 05

*Luscious Lock's* curtsey ~ The Body Shop Banana Shampoo & Conditioner :P :P

What I Like about Faces Ultime Pro Long Wear Matte Lipstick Peach Blush 05 ~
  • Very pretty pink-brown shade with a bit of peach. Apt for daily wear and would suit all Indian skin tones.Potential MLBB shade for very fair skin
  • Glides smoothly on my lips without any kind of tugging
  • Great pigmentation. 2 swipes are good enough for the color to show off on my lips
  • Its a complete Matte Lipstick. If you compare it with colorbar velvette matte lipsticks, Faces is more matte, where as colorbar is semi matte
  • Does not bleed
  • Stays on me for 4 hrs with slight fading
  • Mild fragrance (not in your nose type), tasteless
  • Sleek black packaging *Like a Boss PRO *

What I don't Like about *copy* Faces Ultime Pro Long Wear Matte Lipstick Peach Blush 05 *paste* ~
  • I have dry lips, so a using a lipbalm is must for me.
  • I would recommend to scrub/mildly exfoliate your lips when using a matte lipstick like this one
  • Very common shade (not that I mind, but dupes are plenty)
  • Expensive
  • I can't describe the fragrance exactly.. just that, I am not too fond of it.

My Rating : 3.5/5
Final Verdict : If you love matte lipsticks and looking for a long lasting one Faces ultime pro range lives up to its claims. Peach Blush is a very pretty and wearable shade that would flatter almost all Indian skin tones. But if you have very dry lips like me, a lip balm underneath is must.

Maybelline HyperGlossy POP Liquid liner Tangerine Orange : For the Bold and The Beautiful (Review & Swatches)

$

I said I wasn’t gonna lose my head

But then pop! Goes my heart
*Pop! Goes my heart*
I wasn’t gonna fall in love again
But then pop! Goes my heart
*Pop! Goes my heart*
And I just can’t let you go
I can’t lose this feeling...............

.. Remember "Music & Lyrics" ?? Hugh Grant.. as the lead vocalist of 80's something fictional rock band?? and his pelvic thrusts each time he croons "POP" !!?? Well, ever since I heard of the launch of Maybelline POP hyperglossy liquid liners, I have been singing this on my head *insert imaginary pelvic thrusts here*.

Maybelline says ~
Want to get the Catwalk trends to your sidewalk?
Maybelline New York presents the HYPERGLOSSY RUNWAY POP LIQUID LINER for eyes that shine with the boldest design!
It’s hot off the runway... and guess what? It’s easy to wear every day.
Dare to wear the glossiest vinyl line in the latest fashion shades this season!

There are 3 shades from this range ~ Tangerine, turquoise and khaki. Tangerine was sent to me by the brand for review and honestly when I first saw this my instant reaction was.. "what the heck am supposed to do with this? " Literally, Orange on my eyes is not so happening. I think Khaki is a more wearable shade than this one. At one point of time, I had thought of sending it back.. but then I swatched it.. and boy ! it was orange but it was gorgeous. It has these tiny golden shimmer to it, which is just AWESOME !! So, I googled  " How to wear orange eyeliner" and found some pretty wearable looks. :)

Before going to the PROS n CONS lets have a closer look on the shade~

Swatch~

In Natural Light

With Flash

This is a really bold shade and definitely does not fall into 'wearable' category. In fact it is literally a eye-POP-ing color. After going through hundreds of google images, I tried two looks with this ~ A bold look and a comparatively more subtle aka wearable look.

*Some pics went a bit blurry because my hands were shaking, please excuse*

THE BOLD LOOK

For this look, first I lined my eyes with a black liquid liner and winged it (more than normal) to add a bit drama. Then applied the Maybelline Tangerine eye liner on my upper lid, leaving some free edges near the lashline. Also I did not extend it all the way to the inner corner or the outer wing.Lined only the outer one-third of the lower lash line with black liquid liner.Added two coats of mascara.

THE BEAUTIFUL LOOK

For this one, I applied the orange eye liner all over my lids. Just that ! and smudged it with fingers. When you smudge, the color becomes more subtle and the golden shimmer become more visible. Am sorry again, but my camera failed to capture it ! Maybe I will do the look again and upload. At the end, I just lined my eyes with a black liquid liner, close to my upper lashline and made a tiny wing near the outer corner.

The picture below again is horribly blurry.. and you need to ignore the chicken pox scars ~ My right eye (left on the picture) is the Bold look and my left eye (your right) is the wearable look

I understand the eye swatches are not upto the mark. But I want you all to try these looks. Orange eyes, don't seem to be scary anymore. ! :D :D

Oh ! and I think a light pink lipstick will go well with these.. what say??

Price ~ 225 INR

Let's take a look at the PROS and CONS now ~

What I Love about Maybelline Hyperglossy POP Liquid Liner Tangerine Orange ~
  • Smudge free and water proof
  • Intensely pigmented and opaque. I did not have any issues while using it over black liquid liner.
  • Does not flake.
  • Gorgeous orange shade with very fine golden shimmers
  • Easily removed with a makeup remover ( and no there is no yellow glitter all over your face)
  • The packaging is similar to the original Maybelline hyperglossy liquid eye liner. Slender black packaging with the labeling done in orange. I love the thin fine brush. The long handle gives better control
  • Affordable and easily available
What I don't Like about Maybelline Hyperglossy POP Liquid Liner Tangerine Orange~
  • Orange is not a comfortable shade and I don't think there will be many takers for it ! Khaki is however much safe.
  • Sometimes, it peels of when more than 3-4 layers are used.
My rating : I should give it a 5/5 because of the amazing quality. But for this particular shade I will give 3.5/5

Final Verdict :  If you love orange liners.. go ahead..this is the most affordable liner in India at present. Honestly Its not a repurchase for me, I will rather pick up the Khaki one !

*Pop goes my heart* ............... :)

My Bridal Diary : The Engagement - Mehendi and Makeup

$
0
0

I had started My Bridal Diary a few months back, with a similar picture as this one.. Don't know why, I love these cheesy  'holding hand pictures'.. so much so that I made my friend to click one for me... sigh!!

 Yes, it's US ♥

A lot of you have been requesting me to share my engagement pictures.. so here they are.. :) It's only my makeup and mehendi today...  I will share a few more in my another post !

First the Mehendi...

Remember how  clueless I was regarding choosing the mehendiwala?? Even 3 days before the engagement ??? Well, so the first thing I did on reaching Kolkata was scout for one. I didn't want to go for the 'beauty parlor aunties'~ simply because they aren't much professional and charge a lot.I got to know about some really good mehendi artists from my friends..but they charged a bomb ! One asked for 10k (both hand & feet) .. !!!!! *shock* *gasp*

Well, then with your recommendations, I headed straight to Rashbehari avenue and talked with the mehendi guys infront of Basanti Devi college. With a bit more bargaining I narrowed down one, who was ready to come at home and do the hands (from a little below elbow) and feet ( from ankle ) at 1000 rs !! *Pretty good huh? watsayy?? *

This guy was "Amit (Ghosh) Mehendi" and he sent two people at my place (the evening before the d-day) I have to say they were pretty fast and did their job well. I forgot to take my pinterest ideas (which I regret a bit).. but at the end of the day I loved what they did.

I swear , its pretty difficult  to sit still during mehendi sessions. I had this intense desire to scratch my nose, just when my fingers were being done ! :X

I love intricate designs.. But if you don't , you can go for the 'khuli khuli' arabic designs as well ! :)

The only thing i regret most is that I lost my patience and scrubbed my hand before dinner. Otherwise the color would have been much darker!

Onto Makeup..

I know it was only engagement and not my wedding, I know the boy for last 8 years .. but still I was a nervous wreck in the morning. Antacids, ajwain nothing helped.. and to top it I had bad stomach cramps !

I had booked Nabin Das for this day long back. I had appointment at 9 am, but courtesy  stomach cramps and nausea.. I reached his studio at 9.30. He had this *not-so-polite* male assistant with him. The assistant did my base and cheek makeup. I noticed he used kryolan paint sticks. Not sure bout the blush though..some earthy brownish shade ( me no likey )

Nabin Das , on the other hand was much polite and eased me.I shared my idea of hair and makeup with him without any hesitation. I don't know if this was because I was the only client.. but he was really down to earth ! ... and he kept on referring  models as "Daiyen's" :P :P

Nabin Das did my eye makeup. He used a pink shade from VOV professional palette and a bit of vanilla pigment for lids (couldn't understand the brand) Mascara was our good ol' Maybelline collossal. I thought he would use more of MAC stuff.. but he didn't :( For my lips too he used a nude color from L'oreal color riche and topped it up with a hint of pink from a customized palette.

For my hair he gave me *soft curls swept to the side* look. I mentioned about this look #3 HERE

 * note the hair do* ~ Sorry, I don't have any proper pictures of my hair :(

*That bugging itchy feeling when you are not allowed to touch *

That's it for today! I guess you already got a glimpse of my DIY Lehenga :P nothing fancy.. I will share more pictures and other details of the occassion in another post :)

*seems like I sound all review-y throughout this post :/ *

MAC Archie's Girls Lipstick Ronnie Red : Review & Swatches

$
0
0

I think the most anticipated collection for me from MAC has been the Archie's Girls collection. Not just because it is a great collection. To be truthful, I checked out the entire collection yesterday, and I found three lipsticks to my taste, out of which two were from Veronica’s department, and one from the Betty segment. Although the pearl glide eye pencils are super cute, I personally thought that the blushes were not suited for me. Cream Soda (Betty) washed me out, and as I had been looking forward to purchasing that blush, it was pretty disappointing for me at that point.

However, I did buy a couple of things, and as I picked up the only red lipstick in the collection, and headed for the counter to pay, another woman came up and asked for the same color, and she was told, very politely, that the color was sold out. Imagine my facial expression at that time! It was a combination of glee, ecstasy and not an inconsiderable amount of relief.

So, back to the lipstick. I purchased it because frankly speaking, after I bought MAC Chili last year, I did not pick up any reds, and the other day when I was sorting out my makeup collection, I realized that apart from Chili, I did not have a single other red in my collection for now (shame on me!) and it needed to be remedied. So I decided to pick up this shade a while back and wrote down my name with other hopefuls when it came to the color.

Price: 1100 INR (Limited Edition, so it is more expensive) for  3 gm.

My Take on MAC Archies Girl Lipstick Ronnie Red:

MAC describes Ronnie Red as a bright red with a matte finish. I personally love MAC’s matte finish, and that was one of the reasons I picked this one up. The other reason was probably because everyone who has reviewed it talked about its long-lasting formula.

The color is an incredibly flattering shade of blue-red bordering on what can be called pink-red. This color, I know from experience, is very flattering on anyone under NC 45, and virtually all women with pinkish skin tone. It is slightly darker than my Maybelline Superstay Lipstick Non Stop Red, and it is very flattering on my complexion for some reason.

Swatches :

The packaging is super-cute, as you can see, with Veronica’s face imprinted on the lipstick’s body. Unlike the regular MAC packaging, this one is a shiny white one, with lovely little red hearts all over it. I swear, I would buy this color just for the packaging (yes readers, it is okay for you to have a face-palm moment at my expense), and I swear I squealed all the way back home and called up random friends about the color and packaging until I got phones slammed down on me (feel sad for me now!). The color name is in the bottom.

The texture of the lipstick is not super-creamy, as this is supposed to be a matte one. I put on my lip liner first and then used a brush to fill in my lips, following a simple tutorial Lisa Eldridge uses to apply red lipsticks. After first application, I blotted once, and then applied again, this time carefully filling up all the edges. The lipstick is easily applied with a lip brush as well as from the bullet itself. It has a signature vanilla fragrance. It does not bleed or make my lips dry. In fact, after blotting, I feel like not wearing anything on my lips. However, girls with dry lips, this might not be your thing.

Now comes the best part. Ronnie Red is possibly one of the longest staying red lipsticks on my lips. I wore the lipstick in the afternoon, around 12, and then ate lunch, had tea and still the color stayed on my lips. It did fade in certain places, but overall, the staying power of the lipstick was around 7 hours easily, and when it faded, there was a delicious stain left behind. I had to get rid of it by using a makeup remover, and I swear, I was stunned to see the staying power of this lipstick. Girls if you are working and need a lipstick that would last, this is it.

Pros of MAC Archies Girls Lipstick Ronnie Red :

  • Intensely flattering color
  • Stays a long time
  • Lightweight
  • Smells nice
  • Great packaging
  • Does not bleed
  • Does not flake

Cons of MAC Archies Girls Lipstick Ronnie Red :

  • Limited edition and therefore pricier and exclusive
  • Might not suit all skin tones
  • Will not be good on dry lips

My Rating : 4.5/5

Final Verdict : I absolutely love this and wish this color would be, in this package, be added to the permanent line of MAC.

How it works:
Organic babassu oil smoothes and revitalizes skin.
Organic cold pressed coconut oil moisturizes and softens the skin.
Organic red grape, plantain and elderflower helps improve skin tone and texture.
Organic buddleja and thyme help protect the skin.
Essential oils and natural fragrances combine to create a gentle fragrance.

This is a good day cream that can be used by those with normal, dry, combination and slightly oily skin after cleansing and using your serum.  To use it you have to massage it into the face and neck with fingertips after cleansing.

Now for you who are in your twenties, don’t frown upon this product and think about it as something for older women.  Wrinkles are so fine you just cannot tell when you get the first one.  Whether you use this cream or not, you will still have wrinkles one day but well, you can just delay it.  Stress, fatigue and environmental aggressors are just around the corner these days.

I have sensitive combination skin and this cream is good.  It is rich but light weight and has not given me any pimples yet. It has a nice fragrance.  You do need too much of it just a pea size amount.  It gets absorbed quickly and well, I do not want to say it makes the skin oily.  It just makes it hydrated and smooth so it seems like its oily but its not.

The nice organic ingredients will help protective and prevent any future skin damage.  If you use it daily you will see the difference in your skin.  Most of buy things to use on a daily basis bt never end up sticking to it.  Stick to this as a routine and it will work.   It is so be used after you cleanse your face and before you put on your sunscreen.

The Day cream promotes youthful and healthy-looking skin, when used with other products in the Nutriganics regime.  In India you can find

NUTRIGANICS™ SMOOTHING NIGHT CREAM- INR 1,595
NUTRIGANICS  Face wash - INR 1495 (foaming)
NUTRIGANICS – INR 995 (gel)
NUTRIGANICS  Toner – INR 985
NUTRIGANICS  Serum – INR  1350

Abroad, they have a few more of them.

Pros of The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Day Cream:

  • Good, cruelty free brand
  • Internationally reputed
  • Deals with the early onset of wrinkles
  • Corrects the appearance of early lines and wrinkles
  • Skin is more hydrated and smooth
  • Available with a night cream as well
  • It is good for dull, dry, normal and slightly oily skin
  • Sturdy and travel friendly bottle
  • Effective with organic key ingredients

Cons of The Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Day Cream:

  • Expensive
  • Available at all TBS across the country only
  • Beware of fakes in the market

My Rating : 3/5
Final Verdict :This rich day cream has anti-ageing properties and is a good buy.  If you are looking for a good brand that has both the day and night range then this is a nice cream to choose.  It is light and makes the skin smooth, soft and leaves it very hydrated.

Do you feel your city is neglected when it comes to Makeup Brands ?

So, do you ?

Haanji , *with much disappointment *  I strongly feel this  :(

Kolkata, my city..being a major metropolitan area lags behind a big time when it comes to High end Makeup or Skin care brands !

A teeny single MAC corner , which.. ahem. does not even bother to keep Russian Red (forget about limited editions).  We don't have Forest Essentials , We don't have Kiehl's , We don't have Kryolan,  ...  Sephora ??? ( Only in my highly optimistic dreams)  We don't even have a well stocked Bourjois *shock*

*Delhites.. I pretty much envy you for this* :|

Obviously, We can order online... but  buying a stuff after testing and swatching is a whole different experience. ( Even if I let go the killing shipping charges and unpredictable delivery)

  • Gorgeous fuchsia pink with a hint of red ~ would look good on all indian skin tones .n Perfect to rock the summers
  • Pigmentation is incredible. 1 swipe and we are good.
  • Buttery texture. Glides on lips smoothly
  • Does not make lips dry
  • Lasts long hours and fades leaving behind a hint of pink <3
  • Very Affordable
What I don't Love about Rimmel Lasting Finisk Lipstick Heart Breaker :
  • Bleeds and transfers.

MAC Archies Girls Pearlglide Eye Pencil Black Swan : Review and Swatches

$

I was quite sure that I wanted a blush and a lipstick from the Archies Range. I had already picked out Ronnie Redas the lipstick from the Veronica range, and the blush Cream Soda from the Betty collection as my targeted products from the collection. Although the eye pencils looked attractive, I decided to skip them because I do possess a number of eye pencils, and personally felt that I should not get any more.

However, when I swatched the colors at the store, there were two colors that blew me away, and I decided to pick both. These were Petrol Blue from the Veronica range, and Black Swan from the Betty range. But, as I had already spent more than my budget buying a couple of other things (my MAC Studiofix was over and I wanted a new one and I had to repurchase another color because it was over), I decided on getting only one eye pencil. And after a lot of mental dilemma, I zoomed in on Black Swan, the one from Betty range. :D

When I swatched these, I was randomly swatching all the products from the Archies Girls range, and after 2 minutes, I came back and tried to remove the eye pencil swatches from my wrist. To my surprise, the swatches did not budge. Not even one single bit. I was truly impressed, and after a brief mental tussle, told the MUA to pack it all up.

Price: 1100 INR for Quantity: 0.04 oz.

My Take: I have never come across a color like Black Swan. It is intense blue-black with beautiful silver, gold and blue shimmers in it. Although the MAC Website says it is black with gold pearl, I think they mixed it up with Black Line, which I used to have, and which was black with gold pearls in it. A brief foray in Temptalia confirmed my point, and I have to say, I was absolutely stunned by the color itself.

One stroke is going to give you the intense shimmery color. For those girls who feel that summer is just not the time for eye makeup and would like to keep it simple, girls, you are now officially helped by MAC. The pearls in this color makes it easy for virtually any skin tone to carry it off, and gives the illusion of this color being the darkest teal shade with shimmers in it. I love the effect (although hate sharpening it, all the time thinking, “eek, waste”) to the core of my very being.

The color glides on easily, without tugging, and does not irritate my waterline (I am so glad for that! Most eye pencils hurt my eyes) and it takes a minute for this to set in. Once it sets in, it does really SET IN. I actually rubbed the hand swatch once, vigorously, before taking photos. All it seemed to do to the swatch was release a bit of the pearls on my fingers. The color barely moved, and stayed there till I used a makeup remover to remove it on the next day (yes, that’s 24 hours, and barely a difference).

Swatch :

On my eyes, the pictures were taken after 4 hours of wear, and you can see how intense and lovely the shade was, sticking faithfully to my oily eyelids (At this point, I would like to rename this color Black Dog, just for the faithful part. Then again, when I worked in Wipro, there were four swans that used to follow me around everywhere because they liked me), and it stuck there for the next six hours too, until I decided to take it off with my faithful makeup remover. However, the only thing I perhaps am not too happy about is the removal, because that has to be done with a makeup remover (and a lazy girl like me does not like makeup removers much). My Lakme Bi-Phased makeup remover, however, gets half of it on the first swipe, and the rest on 2-3 more swipes, so I can’t really complain.

Pros:

  • Intense, unusual color
  • Very easily applied
  • Does not hurt my eyes
  • Staying power is very good

Cons:

  • Has to be sharpened, leading to product wastage
  • Removal is slightly difficult

My Rating: 4.5/5

Final Verdict : Overall, I will be in tears when this gets over. Possibly one of the best eye pencils I have ever used, and mind you, I have used a good number of them.

The Engagement :The Ring, The Lehenga & some ramblings

It was October 2005...

I had just returned from my home, after spending Durga Puja holidays... and my hostel room was at its messy best. With Pajama's rolled up, broom stick in my hand.. I tried to shoo away the spiders in the ceiling. Little did I know , that it would be the most important day in life ..

There was this guy in my batch... with a charming smile.. that made me go weak in my knees, every time he looked at me! We were friends.. but from the very beginning I had this feeling that something was brewing and it wasn't one-sided.He didn't have a cell phone of his own then.. but the day I left for my holidays, he sms-ed , that he got one. Ahem, and those sms's never stopped.

It was close to midnight.. I was exhausted cleaning my room.. my cell rang. My heart skipped a beat...it was him.

After a bit of " what were you doing's and why didn't you reply to my messages " the question was popped. " Do you love me? " I couldn't reply. Honestly, I had seen this coming.. but still when he asked.. I was dumbstruck. *trust me when I say "haan mere bhi mann me laddoo phuta" *  He asked again. In my mind I was like..hey, where are the 3 magical words.. all of 18, I was used to guys hitting on me with "I love you"'s first.... I tried to put my thoughts together..  and managed to ask him back " Well, what do you think and do You love me ???" I was dying to hear those 3 word from him by then. So he replied " I do..I love you.. but am not sure..I think you love me too"  Ahhh... bliss . I wanted to hear that again and again.. but wait I hadn't yet replied .. So, now the Taurus was a bit bugged.. He said " See, its past midnight, I give you 30 secs..tell me Do you love me.. or I wil hung up the phone "... Ahem, what..?? After gulping down my imaginary laddoos hurriedly.. I managed to say "Yes"

April 2013

After lots of up and downs.. He finally got down on his knees..in front of both the families and asked once again "Will you marry me ? " I was overwhelmed.. He is too stubborn to do anything like this.. but he just did. And all I could manage was " Get up.. get up..pretty please get up.. haan haan..yes yes... get up...everybody is watching!!" To my great relief he got up... but not without planting a tiny peck on my hands

I just thought of sharing this ... because you, are also part of my life now :)

Just after the ring exchange ..

This is one of my favorite pictures. I Love gold more than platinum.. so my solitaire is basically a gold ring. I don't like the traditional solitaires (the one which is a bit raised up).In my ring, the solitaire is kinda embedded. I heart it !

And I was a bit teary-eyed after that...

We also had a bong style Ashirbaad that day

Sadly I don't have much pictures of my lehenga..like a full one. :( Also the color is basically rani pink with red undertones.. but in photos it showed up more as red and orange :(

The material is raw silk, and there is this dull gold zari work throughout. I did not want any heavy duty stuff for the engagement. My concept was minimalistic throughout. I had got the whole fabric dye-ed. The dupatta was however of net. So, it didn't pick up the deep color, just a tint of pink.

Latkans of the blouse ~ Got them from 'Aparna' in Camac street (near Bellvue hospital) They also have a good collection of fabrics!

Aligning the dupatta~ my MUA helped with all that.

nervous wreck during the makeup~ but you can see the two tones of the fabric here: rani and red

It was weird, I had pinned the dupatta in my blouse..please never do that! It looks awfull in pictures

Not a good pic, but it covers most of the lehenga.. And yes, I am perpetually scared of high heels..hence the dull gold juti !

 and That's US

I guess, that's enough blabber for today... and hopefully end of my engagement tales....

L'oreal Professionnel Vitamino Color Shampoo Review

$

It was a regular Sunday today. Waking up late, browsing pinterest , watching movies, day dreaming... Talking of movies, isn't Maximus too cute? (arre, that horse in tangled..isn't he just adorable? )Anyways, Sundays are also my 'must shampoo' days *You need a good hair day, to beat the Monday morning blues, right?*

I casually ran my hand across my hair to remove any tangles.. and oh boy, my hair felt so soft! I checked (read scrutinized) my hair color, and it still looked pretty. I was so happy, I did a mini jiggy in promtu :D Ok..lets face the truth ~ no hair color stays for a lifetime. It fades. And, if that isn't bad enough.. in course of time, our hair turns frizzy and lifeless.

Enter L'oreal Professionnel Vitamino Color shampoo. My hairstylist had recommended to use it along with the mask regularly . I had bought the mask, but as I still had my fav TBS Banana shampoo and the newly launched Dove Split Ends Shampoo, I wanted to skip it. So, he gave me a 100ml sample product to try out. Fair enough ! (hello, I had shelled out 3500 for the coloring and add 600 for the mask,I should have been given a full sized bottle.hmph)

I have been using this almost every alternate day, since January ( except for sometime back in Feb/March, when I reviewed the Dove shampoo and a few occasions when my hair demanded some banana love )

Lóreal Claims : Color protecting shampoo, gently removes residues and helps protect color-treated hair. Double protection system for colored hair with incell hydro-resist, a UV filter for hair and derivatives of vitamin E and magnesium. Dual action formula to reinforce the fiber for color-treated hair

Price : 475 Rs for 250 ml

Ingredients :

What I Love about L'oreal Professionnel Vitamino Color Shampoo :
  • Makes my hair soft and manageable
  • Controls frizz but not weigh my hair down
  • Adds volume
  • My hair color has faded, only a bit~ am not sure if I should attribute that to the color or the shampoo, either way, am happy
  • Smells like berries ! and the fragrance lingers on for quite sometime after bath
  • The consistency is neither too runny. nor too thick. Somewhere in between, but easy to work with
  • The shampoo is really mild, and hence I can use it almost every days ! *now that summers have come and my scalp produces more oil than Saudi Arabia*
  • Claims to contain Vitamin E and UV filter for color treated hair
  • Very little of the product is needed and it lathers amazingly.I have just finished using this 100ml bottle (that's almost 4 months!!)
  • Works well as mild everyday shampoo for both colored and non-colored hair.
  • I love the flip flop cap.Easy to use in showers

What I don't Love about L'oreal Professionnel Vitamino Color Shampoo :
  • May be because of the 'Hydro resist' thingy, sometimes I feel the need of more water to wash it off completely.
  • Availability may be an issue. They are mostly sold in L'oreal salons (and some shops at New Market, if you are from Kolkata) .But I have recently seen some online portals stocking up on these
  • Price - This again is a bit in the higher range. But honestly, I prefer to invest a bit  when it comes to haircare
  • This would disappoint, if you want your shampoo to be au-naturel
  • I recently bought the 250ml bottle, which is definitely not travel friendly. I think L'oreal should come up with travel friendly options
  • L'oreal does animal testing

My Rating : 4.5/5 (yes, even with all those CONS this is a winner for me)

Final Verdict : If you are looking for a mild everyday shampoo, which won't dry out your hair and make them soft ,manageable and add volume.L'oreal Professionnel Vitamino Color should be your pick. Also,If you have colored treated hair, you should definitely try it out.

MUA 12 Shade Dusk Till Dawn Palette : Review, Swatches & EOTD

Product Description: Dusk till Dawn is a highly pigmented eye shadow palette that has 12 shimmer shades. This stunning palette contains strong and deep shades as well as natural shades which allow one to uncover their hidden fantasies. Each shade can be applied alone for a dramatic effect or mixed to create a natural look.

Price:£4 or 350 INR (apprx. w/o shipping)

My views on the MUA ‘Dusk till Dawn’ palette:

‘Dusk till Dawn’ is one of the bestsellers e/s palettes from MUA and the diversity of shades in both the rows makes it a definite one. Now I own 2 nice palettes from MUA, this and the Glitterball palette. Though the latter is more of an occasional wear, with this one, you can actually create more subtle looks for the day and smokey eye looks for the night.

Shades: The top row in this palette consists of some neutral colors to create day-time looks while the bottom row contains the darker, pigmented shades for creating eye looks better suited for a night-time wear.

Top row (starting from left): cream, (less pigmented) dark brown, satin peach, white, light shimmer taupe and glittery peach. All these shades are shimmery in nature while the white (4th) and the Peach (6th) are glittery.

Bottom row (left – right): Shimmery Golden, glittery dirty grey, turquoise shimmer, teal blue glitter, dark purple shimmer, black with silver glitter.

My favorite is the bottom row as I love to play with darker colors more than the neutral ones though the first 3 shades from are top row are beautiful too. I hate the 2nd shade (dirty grey) from the bottom row.

Swatches :

 Top Row

Bottom row

Texture: I find some colors seriously lacking pigmentation like the last 2 shades of the top row and the 2nd shade of the bottom row. The shimmery nature of the colors results in fall-out too but nothing that cannot be cleared easily. The last 4 colors are highly pigmented and show up quite easily on the eyes. Easy to blend the shades too.

The shades in the palette do require a proper base/ primer to fully show up. Rest the can be better picked up using a smaller and dense e/s brush better.

Staying power: I had used them on top of a proper base and the colors stayed intact for several hours till the time I removed them. Splashing water doesn’t make them fade/wash away which is good. You need a cleanser to fully wash them off.

Packaging: The 12 shades come housed in a pretty black plastic case with a clear top. There is a double ended foam applicator provided which comes handy at times. Overall, I like the good packaging.

EOTD :

Pros:

  • Pretty shades
  • A complete palette of shimmery colors for light and smokey eye looks.
  • Nice pigmentation of shades
  • Good packaging
  • Decent price for a 12 e/s palette.
  • Great staying power

Cons:

  • Availability
  • Few shades are glittery and chalky
  • 1-2 shades seriously lack pigmentation.
  • You need a proper base to make up pop-up better.
  • Colors have a bit of fall-out coz of the shimmery nature.

My Ratings: 4/5

Recommendations: I love the thought behind this palette, that one palette can work for both daytime and night time looks. Top row contains nice wearable everyday shades and the bottom row contains lovely colours, smokey shades. I definitely recommend this palette if you want some diversity of colors.

How do you deal with a 'nutty professor'?? As if working 9 to 5 everyday and an extra 48hour emergency weren't enough for me (the sole reason i was missing in action for last 2 days :| Sorry, for not replying to your email and messages), I am now stuck with two 10-kilo-each books and a dozen journals for an out of the blue presentation tomorrow  Uggghhhh.. why me ? Not that, he is insanely obese or trying to win anybody's affection.. but he is NUTS. And when it comes to me and powerpoint, let's just say we aren't the best friends forever. Aaaaggggghhhhhh !

So, first thing first.. what do I need to cheer my grumpy self?
1.A hot shower ! ( the weather is really awesome here day, you know the kinds when you just want to cozy up with a book and stare at the drizzle through your windows ...mmmhmmm ) *spank* *wake up- wake up- you need to study* grrr
2.Lods of caffeine * ok-ok I have promised myself to finish up those green tea sachets* blah
... ok , so while on shower , I thought of doing a quick review of my Vitamino color hair masque today.. I swear the delicious berry fragrance of the product made me feel a lot better *talk bout aromatherapy,h*

What I Love about L’oreal  Professionnel  Vitamino Color Hair Mask :

  • Smells of berries which is pleasantly mild.
  • Makes hair soft, manageable and tangle free
  • Controls frizz to some extent. But I do follow it up with my L’oreal hair serum
  • I have been using this every time I shampoo , as a regular conditioner. It’s very light weight . the texture is exactly what it is mentioned. i.e  gel-cream.
  • It does not weigh down my hair or make them limp
  • Vitamin E and UV filter for hair protection.
  • My hair color still doesn’t look ghastly

What I don’t Like about L’oreal Professionel vitamino Color hair masque

My Rating : 3.5/5
Final Verdict : It’s a really good everyday conditioner, specially those who have oily hair. But I don’t seem to be repurchasing it . I need some shine and volume along with color protection.

Bath & Body Works Dark Kiss Body Lotion Review

What Bath & Body Work Claims :

Started in 1990 in Ohio, America, Bath & Body Works is a well- known and much loved brand across the globe.   If they were to start a store in India, they’d give other similar brands a run for their money.
Our exclusive Signature Body Lotion formula, fortified with powerful ingredients like super conditioning Shea Butter, fast absorbing Jojoba Oil and protective Vitamin E, hydrates skin with moisture that lasts all day. Our non-greasy formula absorbs quickly and completely to leave skin feeling incredibly soft, smooth and nourished, making it the perfect daily moisturizer.
Dark Kiss is a seductive blend of dark berries with a kiss of vanilla to unleash your most primal passions.  The fragrance is a tempting blend of black raspberry, Mirabelle plum, sensual incense- amber, dark vanilla bean, sensual balsam and night musk

PRICE: INR 810 for 88 ml

My Take :

Now, I’ve used many products from Bath & Body works.  Mostly light spritzes that give outstanding results.  This lotion has a very strong scent.  I would have run away from perfume that smelt like this because I would have got a migraine but in the form of perfumed cream, it is DARK and amazing.   Sometimes, I smell vanilla ice-cream, sometimes some musk and then sometimes, something sweet.  It lasted for about 4 hours on me and lingered even after my shower.   Half the time, the average perfume itself does not last so long.

Apart from it being a fantastic perfumed cream it is not much else.  If you have dry skin then you may not get outstanding results with it.  But yes, because your skin is dry perfume too does not last for long.  In that case, this is going to be the best when paired with the EDT of the same fragrance.  It’s gonna be awesome!

The lotion claims to have some excellent ingredients like Shea Butter, fast absorbing Jojoba Oil and protective Vitamin E.   It is beige in colour and the consistency is just right.  Not too thick and not too runny.  I have normal skin and it gets absorbed very quickly.  There is no need to rub and rub and rub.

The bottle is a cute opaque one and the sticker on the bottle is also lovely.  It is a pleasure to whip out in front of your girlfriends. I also love the hygienic, dispensing bottle cap.  It is very easy to use and get just the right amount out.  This of course is going to be the best thing for spring/summer.  I would suggest all you lovely gals out there, buy one!  It’s too good a product to miss.  Wait till its launched in India or get someone to get it for you from the states.  How many of you have a BBF who lives by the very factory???? I do!

If you find the scent over powering then use it sparingly on your pulse points - wrists, behind their ears, inside their elbows and behind the knees.  These pressure points have blood vessels closest to the skin and they give out heat.  Body heat prolongs the fragrance.

You can also find the following variants in the DARK KISS Signature Collection.  It is an exclusive online collection

Pros:
  • Oh my God, what a fragrance!!!!
  • Good product from a good brand
  • Fantastic for oily skinned women
  • If perfumed cream doesn't last on you, this surely will!
  • Moisturizing and makes skin smooth
  • Non-greasy
  • Is easily absorbed into the skin
  • Good for summer
  • Very good staying power of the fragrance
  • Lovely chic packaging
  • Dispenses just enough lotion
  • Hygienic bottle
  • Available online
  • Not tested on animals

Cons:
  • Not-available in India. ( Edit:Though recently I have seen purplle.com is stocking on them)
  • Not the best thing for dry skinned ladies
  • Not for winter
  • Too many fakes in the market

My Rating : 4/5. One point cause u can’t get it here…
Final Verdict : B&BW has some of the most amazing fragrant products in the market and I just love them.  I’d definitely recommend dark kiss because of its long lasting scent and I think it is a lovely cream to add to your bridal trousseau. SMELL NICE ALWAYS………….
