Dear Monday,

I want to break up with you.
I am already seeing Tuesday
And dreaming about Friday.
Sorry, Its not me, ... Its You

Sincerely
Me

Okay so, today is the Day of the week "MONDAY" . period. Am sitting at my desk and I can see Zombies everywhere... Zombie docs, Zombie nurses and even Zombie patients ... o_O. They are all over this place.. trudging wearily with puffy eyes and dark circles .  "Well rested Sunday " generally leaves most of us zombie-fied . Thankfully, with Garnier Light Eye Roll on Pen , I can now Aveda-kevadra my inner zombie !

Except for a couple of products I have never been a fan of Garnier ... but after using this little magic wand my views are changing !

What Garnier Light Eye Roll On Pen Claims :

Ingredient List :

Price : 199 INR

What I Like about Garnier Light Eye Roll On Pen :

  • That absolute fresh and cool feel when the metal ball goes against your skin surface
  • I use it twice a day and whenever my eyes feel tired..It soothes my eyes
  • Relieves puffiness
  • On regular use, removes mild dark circles
  • The liquid being transparent and very light , gets absorbed soon
  • Lasts for a pretty long time
  • Packaging is sleek ,compact and very travel friendly
  • Affordable and easily available

What I don't like about Garnier Light Eye Roll On Pen :
  • You need to hold it at a right angle ( 90 degree ) to your skin for easy flow of the product
  • You need to be consistent with use and I don't think it works on severe dark circles
  • Its difficult to know how much the amount is left because of the opaque color
My Rating : 4/5

Final Thoughts : If you are concerned with puffiness and tired eyes.. try this one ! It will instantly give you some relief and with long term use, dark circles will be controlled (only mild ones).

Colorbar Kohl Intense Eyeliner Mysterious Blue Review

When Colorbar started to flood Facebook with their Kohl Intense Eyeliner ads, I was one of the suckers who fell for it and bought it. I am ashamed to say, I am a convert. The thing is, Colorbar is actually one of the few cosmetic groups which have got a great sense of meeting the demands of the Indian audience. This kohl is definitely becoming one of my favorites for doing FOTDs and EOTDs and creating smoky looks.

Colorbar Claims: Enjoy color and care in one: Kohl Intense eyeliner lasts all day and is easy to apply due its smoothness and excellent color pay-off. A combination of active ingredients, such as vitalizing ingredients to encourage cell regeneration and natural antioxidants to prevent skin aging, is especially coordinated to condition and nourish the sensitive area around the eyes.

Quantity: 0.35 gm.

Price: 399/-

My Take on Colorbar Kohl Intense Eyeliner Mysterious Blue

The packaging is similar to the eyeconic kajal as well as the Avon glimmerstick, only, instead of black, this is matte silver color, with a blue end. The name of the color is stamped on the pack itself, along with the quantity. I have found that the color actually helps me pick it out from other products in the package, and I have taken to using it more because I can really identify it from others and use it. Also, the product is really travel-friendly. I have carried it in my purse with a thousand other things. This has not just stay put, but also been my faithful companion through my cousin’s wedding.

The product comes in a retractable stick form, quite similar to Revlon, Avon or Lakme, and it can be scrolled back after use. Kudos to that, because, otherwise, it would be truly wasted, like my Lakme eyeliner which was non-retractable (bummer!).

I was really impressed by the color, which is a dark matte inky blue. There are no shimmers or glitters in it, and as a result, the color can easily go on top of your eyelids, or can be in the waterline. I have noted, very surprisingly, that even my waterline, which generally throws off most colors within a couple of hours, has had this color lasting on it for absolute hours. The EOTD I have done involves a bit of silver eye shadow, with the color highlighting both top and bottom lid, and the picture was taken after … wait for it… 8 hours of application.
That’s right. 8 hours.

And you can see for yourself that the color has smudged minimum, hardly noticeable, and the top lash line has not smudged at all. I used the kohl sparsely in the bottom lash line, and it has stayed put mostly.

I have to say, compared to the other kohl marketed by various brands, as well as Colorbar itself in the range, I would have to give this one really high rating because of the intense color and the lasting power. The color actually sets on my eyes, but it takes about 10-15 minutes to do so, giving me ample time to blend it with eye shadow to create a smoky look if I want. It mostly does not smudge like most other Kajals, unless you rub it with your fingers (well!), and does not flake either. So that is a good thing too!

I would also have to say this – I have sensitive eyes and thus I am quite conscious about what I put on my waterline. This particular Kohl did not irritate my eyes, and there was no allergic reaction later on. Also, I have noted that I have been using it for the last 2 months and it is still not over. In fact, I checked yesterday, and about 1/3rd is there, so if you don’t mind shelling out about 400/- per 2-3 months for a kohl you can use regularly, this is your thing. It is also cheaper than Revlon, which is the closest contender for it, but Revlon does not have this gorgeous color. The color takes the cake.

Swatch :

Pros of Colorbar Kohl Intense Eyeliner Mysterious Blue

  • Great color
  • Travel-friendly
  • Great staying power
  • Really easy to blend in

Cons of Colorbar Kohl Intense Eyeliner Mysterious Blue

  • Smudges slightly
  • Expensive considering the brand

My Rating : 4.75/5

Final Verdict : I will repurchase this. I have another one from the same range, and I am absolutely in love with them.

Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse Review

$

The major claim of the Absolute range of Lakme (in a TV Advertisement) that it would make skin look natural and not made up caught my attraction. But I was very stubborn not to buy any lakme foundations as most of them were complete flop on me.

When I visited cosmetic store near my place to buy few nail paints, the SA there kept on insisting about this Mousse and asked me to give a try saying this is the bestseller product. I absolutely had no idea of buying it but when I tested it on my hands; I immediately fell in love with its creamy texture.

It is available in three shades Ivory Fair, Golden Medium and Beige Honey.

What Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse Claims:

This mousse to powder formula delivers a feather-light finish giving you breathable natural skin. While its weightless formulation hides pores, fine lines and uneven skin tone to leave skin peachy soft all through the day.

Price: Rs. 575 for 25g

My take on Lakme Absolute Skin Natural Mousse:

The texture of the Mousse is light-weight, creamy (true to its claim; feather – touch) and blends within few seconds, absolutely magic. It blends and gets absorbed into my skin so faster that I can never compare with any other foundation or even a cream I’ve ever used.

The packaging is attractive. It comes in a ball shaped opaque grey jar with a steel lid. Though it looks lovely, it tends to slip off from my hands quite often. It has some kind of citrusy fragrance.

It gives light coverage with matte finish. It doesn’t conceal even my slightly dark under eye circles. I didn’t have hopes on its coverage as it is just a mousse.

It stayed on me only for 2-3 hrs in a Non-AC Environment; it took some time for me to realize that it is not sweat proof.  I used this during my vacation to Chennai last August-September. You can imagine how hot it was. I think it might stay for more hours in an AC Environment and in Winters. I’ve never worn this outside; so couldn’t comment on that part.

When I applied this during winters without moisturizing, I find few dry patches after blending. So do not forget to moisturize well enough before.

Everything is quite fine except for the shade. The SA told me the Golden Medium shade would be my exact or corresponding shade for me since I told her that Marble was my exact shade with Lakme 9-5 foundation. I blindly believed that without even a second thought. Pity me!!!

I am with wheatish complexion. I look as if I've applied tonnes of powder after blending. This is absolutely a wrong shade on me. I don’t know how to use this now. It is just lying untouched on my cupboard. With just three shades, I think it’s impossible to match every skin tone.

Swatch :

PROS of Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse  :
  • SPF 8
  • Light weight texture
  • Easy to blend
  • Gives a natural finish
  • Attractive packaging
  • Easily available

CONS of Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse :
  • Not my exact shade.
  • 16 hr claim is absolutely not true.
  • Doesn’t conceal even minor imperfections
  • Not sweat proof
  • Jar Packaging
  • No Ingredient List
  • Expensive for the quantity

My Rating: 3/5

This is suitable for:
  • Oily and Combination skin
  • Skin with minor or no imperfections
  • Light to medium coverage
  • Everyday use

Final Verdict:

If you get your exact shade, you are lucky to experience a no makeup natural feeling because of its light weight and creamy texture.

But I will never repurchase this for sure. Also, I will not purchase any foundation without applying it on my face and finding it suitable. A Lesson learnt many times..!!!

Boots Bergamot Conditioner Review

$

I love boots products. I have oily scalp and dry hair. Anyways I have been searching for a good daily use conditioner along with my shampoo since a long time. Finally i landed upon boots marine shampoo. Along with that the SA used to give me seaweed conditioner. However the last time i went they were out of stock so i bought the bergamot conditioner instead.  Lets see how this one worked.

Directions:
Smooth conditioner through wet hair and rinse.

Price:-INR 710 for 600 ml .

Ingredients:-
Aqua, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Parfum, Propylene glycol, Benzophenone-4, Cetrimonium chloride, Cocamidopropyl betaine, Polyquaternium-39, Trticum vulgare (Wheat) germ extract, Magnesium nitrate,Bergamot extract, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Magnesium chloride, Methylisothiazolinone, Propylparaben

My experience with boots bergamot conditioner:-
I have bought this conditioner for the first time however i have been using boots products since a long time. I have a greasy scalp with dry hair. So i use marine shampoo along with bergamot conditioner. The bottle lasts for a long time. There is need for very little of the product to apply on all of my hair. As i have medium hair.

I like the smell of this conditioner. Paired with the no smell of marine shampoo this one seems to really be a mild pleasant smell which lingers on . However as i have dry hair and this shampoo is meant for greasy hair it tends to dry out my hair more and also weighs it down. After a while i find my hair going limp since i started using this product. I am going to finish this bottle by using very small quantities just on the ends and not more. Then i am going to switch to lighter conditioner. I cannot stop using a conditioner altogether because of my intensive dry hair. Not using a conditioner makes them all frizzy and hay wire.

It has been a month since i am using this product and it has not made much of a difference to my hair. I don't find the conditioning effect long lasting. Once my hair is dry it kind of starts looking like a broom and gets very unmanageable. Till the time its not completely dry my hair feels all soft, but after that... No effect.

Pros of Boots Bergamot conditioner:

  • Love the smell.
  • Cheap enough
  • Quantity lasts long enough.
  • Makes my hair feel soft immediately after it is washed off.

Cons of Boots Bergamot conditioner:

  • Availability is an issue. Get it at only some shops
  • The packaging is not too great.
  • Sometimes makes my hair very dry.
  • Not really suitable for all hair types.
  • Excessive use makes my hair very limp :( and i anyways have very fine hair so tends to weigh down my hair

My rating:-2/5. For quantity and smell.

Would i repurchase boots bergamot conditioner?
No its not that great . I prefer buying the boots seaweed conditioner to this.

Would i recommend boots bergamot conditioner?
Not working for me. However as it is for greasy hair, those who have may give it a try and see how it works for them.

Final Verdict:-It doesn't seem to do anything great. Not recommended

Fab India Bitter Orange Facial Spray Review

$
0
0

I always chose face freshener that had extracts of rose. But, this bitter orange spray product suddenly gave me an idea that I am bored of rose sprays. Smiling at my stupidity, I bought Fab India Bitter Orange Facial Spray :)

Claims about Fab India Bitter Orange Facial Spray:

Made with bitter orange essential oil, this facial spray has a cooling effect that instantly rejuvenates and refreshes you.

Ingredients: Purified Water, Polysorbate 20, Glycerine, Phenoxyethanol, Allantoin, Bitter Orange Essential Oil.

Price and Quantity: Rs.150 for 50 ml

My experience with Fab India Bitter Orange Facial Spray:

Fab India Bitter Orange Facial Spray is truly bitter, no I have not tasted it, but it smells bitter. This facial spray comes in a transparent bottle that has orange theme, I guess to indicate the color of the orange peel. It has a nozzle which when pressed does a strong foamy spraying to the skin. The nozzle is covered with a transparent plastic cap which closes with a click.

The product is a good skin refresher. It gives the skin a cooling fresh feel. It does not feel sticky after it dries. It is as thin as water. A great product that rejuvenates the tired skin. I have never used this product in the day time while going out. I have always used this after a tired traveled day. Soothes skin and mood too.

The product is just similar to those rose water products. Rose waters are available at a much lesser price. So, if you do a comparing job, rose water do the same job at a lesser price. I do not find a reason for buying this product again. Not that this is a bad product. I am just of the opinion that there are many cheaper substitutes for this product.

Pros of Fab India Bitter Orange Facial Spray:

  • A spray nozzle.
  • Good skin refresher.
  • Gives a cooling effect to the skin.
  • Lifts the tiredness and mood.
  • Very thin watery refresher.

Cons of Fab India Bitter Orange Facial Spray:

  • Works similar to that of a rose water, nothing special in a bitter orange spray
  • Not a pleasant fragrance to the spray.

My Rating: 3.5/5

My Recommendation: I do not highly recommend this facial spray. But if you want a change from the usual flowery face refresher, then this is a good pick.

Would I purchase Fab India Bitter Orange Facial Spray again? No.

Make Up Forever Star Powder 902 (Highlighter) Review

Highlighters r essential for Indian makeup. So,today i want to tell you ladies about a gorgeous product, which i can’t live without.Yes,i am talking about MUFE star powder 902.And i truly love this product. :)

What MUFE says about this product:
Star Powder is a silky powder that catches the light and gives the skin an intense sparkle and unparalleled shine. Its extremely fine, yet dense texture makes it easy to apply. Only a small amount is needed for visible results.

Star Powder can be used alone or blended together, applied over other make-up or mixed with make-up of any texture to highlight areas of the face

My views:
Basically MUFE star powder is a silky smooth loose pigment.I got it from medplusbeauty.com

This is a all rounder product(lol). No,really you can use it as a highlighter,or as a illuminator by mixing a lil bit of the product with your regular moisturizer!you can use it with your regular lip balm to get a pearly golden sheen, and u can also use it as a eyeshadow. Isn’t it great!!!!!

Color:
MUFE star powder 902 is a pure white kind of pigment. It looks white inside the container.but, when u spread it on your face or mix it with your moisturizer,it turns to a pearly gorgeous golden color.

Texture
Texture is kind of powdery, but they are finely milled, and blends smoothly.

Packaging
Personally i am not impressed with their packaging. It comes in a tiny  round 'dibbi '.The container is really tiny with a screw on lid.packaging is similar with lakme rose powders, but their container is 5 time bigger than this.

Price : I got it for 937 INR for 2.8g

Swatch :

EOTD:

Pros of MUFE Star Powder:

1.This is a multi purpose product
2.Pigmentation is smooth and silky
3.Blends like a dream
4.A single product goes a long way

Cons of MUFE Star Powder :

1.A little bit costly
2.I personally don't like their packaging

Lotus White Glow Hand and Body Lotion Review

$

Hello my beauties ! :)

A few weeks ago, during my preparations for the coming winter I was stocking up on body lotions for the winter months. My major requirements were moisture, non-greasy feel and lightweight. I have combination to oily skin with an oily T-Zone which shines within an hour of any moisturizing.

As I was wandering through my local Health and Glow Store, I stopped at the Lotus Herbals counter which had an abundance of ‘Whitening’ products. I am of course referring to the WHITEGLOW series of products.

Summer leaves behind a very bad tan on our skin, most of us know that. The SA at the counter was pushing me to try out the body lotion and I gave in.

Voila! I found my winter care! :D

Let me introduce you to the Lotus Herbals WhiteGlow Skin Whitening and Brightening Hand and Body Lotion ....

What the Product Claims

WHITEGLOW™ Skin Whitening Hand & Body Lotion is a technologically advanced formulation that provides triple action on skin LIGHTENING, WHITENING & BRIGHTENING with the help of rare fruit & proven plant extracts that penetrate deep into the skin to provide enduring action. The Result, your skin looks soft, fair and radiant.
LIGHTENS - It lightens the skin tone by reducing uneven pigmentation.
WHITENS - It unveils visibly fairer skin by reducing dark spots.
BRIGHTENS - It enhances the skin’s natural radiance.
Contains SPF 25/PA+++ ( For those who don’t know PA refers to the UVA protection )
Essentially it’s a body lotion with a twist. It moisturises, sun protects as well as de-tans. All in one some might say.

Price : 295INR  for 300ml

Active Ingredients
Liquorice, Green Tea and Grape Extracts

Other Ingredients
Water, Light Liquid Paraffin, Glycerine, Stearic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Triethanolamine, Glyceryl Monostearate, Propylene Glycol, Glyceryl Stearate& PEG 100 Stearate, Isopropyl Myristate, Sodium PCA, Polysorbate 80, Octyl Methoxy Cinnamate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Titanium Dioxide, Glycyrrthiza glabra ( Liquorice ) Extract, Camellia sinensis ( Green Tea ) Extract, Propyl Paraben, Fragrance.

Directions for use

Apply liberally all over the body, ideally after a shower or bath, on damp skin for best skin softening, sealing in the moisture. Focus on dry or stressed areas such as elbows, heels, and knees. Can be used any time your skin is feeling particularly parched and dry.

Packaging

Comes in a sturdy white plastic bottle with a pump neck. The pump has an open-close mechanism which makes the lotion travel friendly. I have tried unscrewing the pump to check for leakages during travel, it does not leak. The pump is extremely easy to control unlike some other such packages. So full marks for packaging.

My take on Lotus White Glow Hand and Body Lotion :

As I said, I wanted such a moisturiser that wouldn’t feel heavy or sticky on me while doing its moisturising job properly. Since I go to college every day, it should also stay on for at least 12 hours without my skin feeling particularly dry and uncomfortable. An added bonus would be the lightening of my skin. The summer tan should be banished. How cool does that sound.

I bought this lotion with high expectations and tried it out eagerly. Well let me tell you, I’m already on my second bottle. This product is actually amazing.

The body lotion is a slightly thick white liquid which flows easy through the bottle. This lotion does not feel heavy on me. Since it is water based, it gets ready absorbed into the skin. Though we see a slight white cast as it has SPF but it disappears within a minute or two.

Once thoroughly worked into my body, this moisturizer keeps me hydrated all day. Yes that’s right. I applied this at 7 in the morning and it stayed on till 9 at night. No dryness seen anywhere. I have used this body lotion on my face too ( I know I’m not supposed too but the tan removal was just too tempting ) and surprisingly it did not break me out.

Coming to its claim of sun protection, I have observed that it does its job pretty decently. But not for long. It did not protect me against the midday sun ( expected because of the low SPF ) but was pretty effective during the morning. I have had to reapply another sunblock for further protection during the day. But it has done its job pretty well for its claims.

About the skin lightening, it was another surprise for me. I have noticed that regular usage ( by regular I mean once a day for a month )  has definitely evened out my skin tone and cleared up the bad tan that I had on my arms. Works pretty well I must say. Twice a day usage would definitely improve skin tone further.

Overall it’s a good product to invest in. The only concern I might have is the abundance of chemicals and the presence of propyl paraben. But as the chemical composition does not fall under the active ingredients list, I’m not much concerned.

Pros of Lotus White Glow Hand and Body Lotion:

  • Contains SPF
  • Water Based formula
  • Stays on the whole day
  • Non-Greasy and Lightweight
  • Does help reduce tan
  • Easy to use pump packaging

Cons of Lotus White Glow Hand and Body Lotion:

  • Contains Propyl Paraben
  • Does not protect against harsh sun

Review :Lotus White Glow Night Cream

My Rating : Overall I would rate it a 4/5 ( deducting a point for composition )

Final Thoughts :I would definitely recommend this to all those who want a non-sticky body lotion which lasts all day.

Engagement / Reception Hair Style Ideas

$

Most Indian weddings I have attended so far , calls for a no-nonsense , away from face , tight buns or braids for the bride. And for obv reasons I seriously de-taste that. Such tight hairdo's , as a matter of fact  draws all attention to the bride's face .. and sadly most of us don't have the universally flattering oval shape :(

I have a round one (fyi). :(

Anyways, I feel Engagement / Sangeet / Mehendi / Reception are occasions where you can go for alternative hairstyles and even give a feminine, soft and flowy touch to the usual braids and buns !

Though hairstyles depend not only on your face type and what you are wearing , but also on your hair color, texture and your personality ! Here are some pictorial suggestion which you may find useful !

1. Half-up ~ Half -down :

This one seems to be the most popular nowadays. It would suit almost all face types depending on how much tight/loose you want it. You can adjust how much up or down you like. It accentuates your neckline and would be flattering for a beautiful neckpiece. This one would suit Medium- Long hair lengths.

Pull out a few strands from either or one side to frame your face .. but don't overboard. You need to show your face too.

You can don some flowers /jeweled hair accessories to give a dazzle but again keep it minimal.

2. Hair Open Style :

If you have short hair you have a great option to let your hair loose ! Just add on some elegant clips, comb or beads (as per your preference)

Even if you have medium / long hair you can go for Open hair do like this,

Take a few strands and sweep it on the sides in a braid or comb it back to keep your face clear. Get those soft curls at the end ! (I totally love it!)

3. Swept to the side :

4. Buns :

Instead of making it a tight one, go for softer versions..

Sock buns are chic ,soft and so very girly !

If its a morning event you can also opt for "out of bed" messy buns / up do's

5. Braid :

If you want a braid , opt for fish tails. Also add some accessories for that zing !

As for my Engagement, I plan to get a updo / Half up ~half down style .I would love to get that soft sock bun with braid but not sure if my MUA would be able to pull that off !

Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme MakeUp Foundation Review

Hello everyone :)

Foundation – It’s that one thing which makes my face fall when I look at my vanity box. I’ve loads of foundations, though none of them is perfect for me. Not one to give up, I went hunting for a foundation again in Health & Glow (ignoring my grumbling mum walking beside me) and spotted this beauty in the Revlon counter. The SA was very sweet and she convinced me to get this within just a couple of minutes (Yup, I’m a pushover & I was desperate :-P). Let’s move on with the review :)

What Revlon says about Revlon Colorstay Whipped Crème Makeup  :

Finally, truly decadent makeup offers ultimate performance. The mousse-like texture feels like silk on your skin. And, the time release formula balances skin for a flawless look. All day flexible wear without flaking, caking or feeling heavy.

-Buildable to full coverage for flawless skin
-Soft, matte finish all day long
-Withstands heat and humidity – great for summer
-Comes in 16 beautiful shades (Unfortunately only 3 shades are available in India :C )

Price : 800 INR for 23.7ml
Shelf Life : 3yrs

Ingredients :

I got this in the shade “Warm Golden” which is for medium skin tone with yellow undertones. I have been using it for the past couple of weeks and I must confess : This is THE best foundation I have ever tried (it has a few flaws but am willing to neglect them considering the overall quality of this product :-P)

First of all, the texture is amazing - it’s a thick liquid which blends like a dream when I blend it with my fingers and only very little amount of the product is required.

The staying power is amazing – it lasted for about 10+ hours on me and stayed put till I removed it, I did not find the need to powder or do touch ups in-between which is the first time in my trysts with foundations :-)
Coming to it’s coverage, it’s a medium to full coverage foundation. You can see how it has covered up my green veins in the pic below. I absolutely adore the glow it gives to my face, seriously, I love it! Though the shade warm golden was a bit lighter for me, it settles down and adapts to my skin tone after some time and gives me a glowing, flawless face and it photographs pretty well too .

Swatch :

On the downside, there are only three shades available in India (Natural Ochre, Warm Golden and Natural Tan) out of the sixteen shades launched .Why Revlon? Why? Why did you do like this?? :'(  and they are suitable for fair, medium and wheatish skin tones only. I feel they should have launched more shades keeping the dusky beauties in mind.

Also, the packaging is made of glass and is too bulky, I wish they had provided a pump dispenser type of packaging since it would have been better in terms of handling and hygiene - I hate dipping my fingers into the pot. It is expensive if you consider the quantity we get (it’s just 23.7 ml) but if you consider the quality, I’m quite satisfied and I feel that the price is entirely justified.

Pros :
  • Talc-free and paraben-free
  • Photographs beautifully
  • Feels very light on skin
  • Gives a flawless, glowing look
  • Contains SPF 20
  • Soft matte finish, as claimed
  • Lasts a really long time, 10+ hours on me
  • No touch ups required (For normal to dry skin)
  • Very little amount of product is required for a single application so this one will last you ages
  • Blends like a dream
Cons :
  • Packaging could’ve been better
  • Only 3 shades are available
  • A bit on the expensive side but totally worth it

Final Thoughts : Get it! Grab it! But do check whether it matches your skin tone well before getting it .

This face pack is one of the most raved about product in the bloggaville. I have heard a lot about oxygen and ozone facials.. so I was pretty optimistic when I finally got to lay my hand on this one .

So, lets find out if this is worth all the applause..

What I did not Like about Aroma Magic Oxy Pack:
  • Complete ingredient list is absent.

  • I have this one acne spot in my right cheek, and even on regular use I did not notice any lightening.
  • Thankfully, I don't have much tanning issues, So, am not sure if this one would be of help
  • Effect is not long lasting. You need to use it daily.
My Rating : 3.5/5

Final Thoughts : Very rarely I have come across a face pack/mask which gives you long lasting result. I am disappointed that this one falls in the same category, unless of course you are okay with using it regularly;or at least on alternate days. But again, keeping in mind the pros of a gel based , non drying, soothing face pack I would recommend it.Specially to those who have oily, combination or sensitive skin.

For me it would be  a big Biggggg Yes !

Whenever I feel low or have a rough day .. I shop ! Be it petty stationary or fancy shoes. I tend get off my usual  "sensible shopaholic" radar and splurge .

I can't really buy happiness.. but Shopping does cheer me up and provide some joy, atleast for a moment or two .

I know winter is not over yet ... but don't you loooove it , when somebody mentions water ! cucumber !  lemon ! or, for that matter aloe vera ! in hot summer afternoons ??? Well, I kinda start feeling all cool and refreshing ........... never mind . :P

Uses of Aloe vera in skin and hair care are many ( read : here) .But being a lazy bone I am always in search of quick fixes. So honestly I was pretty rejoiced to lay my hands on Auravedic's Pure Aloe Vera Gel.

What Auravedic Pure Aloe Vera Gel Claims ?

Directions of Use :

Apply regularly and generously to skin areas to soothe minor burns, sun burns, cuts, bug bites and stings. Ideal for use as a daily moisturizer, hair styling gel and shaving gel.

  • Free of parabens, SLS, Harmful Chemicals & Colors
  • Not tested on animals
  • Keep out of eyes
  • Due to the high concentration of natural extracts, essential oils and floral waters, this product may not be suitable for all skin types.
  • For external use only
  • Store in cool dry place
Ingredient List :

Aloevera extract, Green Tea, Tea tree oil, Wheat germ oil, Avocado oil, lemon oil, olive oil, pomegranate oil, grapeseed oil, jojoba oil, carbomer, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexylglycerine

Price : 225 INR for 100gms

What I Like about Auravedic Pure Aloe Vera Gel :
  • It has a transparent gel like consistency
  • It is light weight and absolutely non greasy
  • Spreads on to skin easily and gets absorbed really fast
  • Faint citrusy fragrance ~ kinda lemony
  • Soothes skin and gives a cool refreshing feeling
  • Best moisturizer for summers / for those with oily-normal skin
  • Seems non- comedogenic to me, though it doesn't claim so.
  • Impressive ingredient list
  • Did not irritate my skin or cause break outs
  • Affordable and available online

What I did not Like about Auravedic Pure Aloe Vera Gel :
  • It's not suitable for dry skin. I have combination skin and so I need more hydration (specially in winters)
  • Bulky and Unhygenic tub packaging
  • I haven't used it as a hair gel or shaving gel ..so can't comment. But I feel it would be a good leave in conditioner for hair
  • Not sure if it acts on active acne
  • Only available online at present
My Rating : 4/5

Final Verdict : If you have oily- normal skin and looking for a lightweight daily moisturizer, this is a really good stuff ! It will be good buy specially in Summers . But if you have dry skin, you can easily give it a pass.

Vichy Essentielles Facial Emulsion Review

I have heard a lot about Vichy products & saw some reviews online too. Though it seemed to be high end product, I was intrigued to try something from the brand. Just when my daily moisturizer got finished I checked online & picked up this facial emulsion which was within my budget. So here’s my experience with the Vichy Essentielles Facial Emulsion.

What the Company Claims about the Product:

Rose is known for its soothing properties. It contains Polyphenols that, in nature protect flowers against external aggressions. To meet all your skin needs Vichy Laboratories have formulated Vichy Essentielles Facial Emulsion with soothing rose extract.Applied every day on the skin, it hydrates it, protects it & reveals the glow.
HYPOALLERGENIC - PARABEN FREE - TESTED ON SENSITIVE SKIN - WITH VICHY THERMAL SPA WATER.

Skin Type: Normal to Combination Skin

Use: Apply onto the face morning &/or night.

Price: 490INR for 50ml.

Ingredients: Aqua, glycerin, alcohol denat, hydrogenated polyisobutene, undecane, ammonium polyacryldimethyltauramide, tridecane, myristyl myristate, stearic acid, potassium cetyl phosphate, allantoin, rosa gallica extract, glyceryl stearate se, sodium benzoate, aluminium starch octenylsuccinate, tocopheryl acetate, copper pca, citric acid, xanthan gum, perfume.

Pros of the Vichy Essentielles Facial Emulsion:

  • The texture of the cream is very light.
  • Gets absorbed quickly & easily.
  • Makes the skin soft & supple & doesn’t make it look oily.
  • Mild floral fragrance.
  • One would just need a little of the product for the entire face.
  • Can be used as a day & night cream.
  • Would be suitable for sensitive skin too.
  • Comes in a tube packaging & can be carried while travelling too.
  • Paraben free.

Cons of the Vichy Essentielles Facial Emuslion:

  • Didn’t moisturize my normal to dry skin during winters, I had to look for something else to provide intense moisturization.
  • Though it claims to give a glow to the skin, I haven’t seen any radiance as such.
  • The quantity is less for the price you pay.

Swatch :

My Rating : 4/5

Final Verdict: This cream would suit normal/Combination skin, however I feel during winter people with normal skin too may find this less effective to take care of the dry/parched skin. It made my skin soft & supple in summers but didn’t give the glow as claimed. It worked as day & night cream. If you don’t mind spending on high end products which are paraben free too, this cream is definitely for you.

Sunsilk Keratinology Glossy Hair Mask Review (for colored hair)

Melody hai Choclatey. main bhi hoon abhi Choclatey ! :P

Melody itni Choclatey kyun hai ???

Okay girls! I have a teeny bit of Big news ( even if that makes no sense ) to share ! I have colored my hair !!!!! ... not a streak , not a highlight ... a full on global color :D  After being "burgandy-ish" with Lush Caca Brun n Marron  ,  for sometime now , I wanted to go all Melody Choclatey. It's been a little more than 2 weeks now and am quite happy with my new avatar =) More on that in another post.

So, post hair coloring , you need to pamper your tresses a bit of 'extra'  ... you don't wanna face the wrath of bad hair days, do you? naah...

For more than a year I have been using The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Hair Butter for my weekly DIY 'hair spa'  ... and honestly I was very much impressed. But with that getting over and this new Sunsilk keratinology range getting raved reviews across the blogaville I decided to go with the hair mask.

What Sunsilk Keratinology 'Sun Kissed Colour Therapy' Glossy Hair Mask Claims :

Price : 400 INR for 200ml

Ingredient List :

What I Like about Sunsilk Keratinology Glossy Hair Mask (for colored hair) :
  • Gorgeous fragrance , which lingers on for the whole day
  • Looks like a caramel pudding !
  • Texture is a very 'aqua based cream' like, very lightweight...smooths on to hair easily.
  • Easy to wash off
  • Makes hair super soft and imparts a lovely sheen
  • Removes tangles and controls frizz to some extent
  • After drying , my hair goes all like .. "shut up n bounce baby bounce.."
  • Does not make my hair greasy or limp with correct amount of the product
  • No need for a hair serum for follow up
  • I usually wash my hair on alternate days, and instead of a regular conditioner am using this hair mask (along with L'oreal Vitamino Color shampoo + The Body Shop Ginger Anti Dandruff Shampoo) and my color hasn't faded .
  • Affordable (definitely ! Compare to that of TBS ot L'occitaine !)

What I Don't Like about Sunsilk Keratinology Glossy Hair Mask (for colored hair) :
  • Not a full proof solution to super freezy hair. For me, it works though ! (I have oily scalp and dry hair, moderately freezy)
  • If you tend to use more than a scoop (i.e the actual required amount) , hair might turn limp the next day
  • That bulky tub packaging is definitely not Shower friendly.
  • Some may find the fragrance a bit over powering.
  • Contains parabens .
  • I don't know if this issue is only with me, but even after the water runs out clear.. my hair turns so sleeky soft .. i wash n wash  n washhhh ( not much of a con in actual)

My Rating : 4/5

Final Verdict : Definitely worth the price..just be carefull with the amount you use !

A CELEBRATION OF MASSAGE

A Valentine’s Day special

We believe massage should be celebrated … not only does it ease aches and pains by releasing endorphins in the body, rejuvenate the body and calm the mind; but it can also be quite a sensual experience.  Give your partner one of Lush’s new massage bars this Valentine’s Day and the benefits will surpass just the one day!

Introducing:

Tender is the Night

a heart shaped massage bar, that’s crushable in your hand!  Synonymous with life perhaps, where you are able to break somebody’s heart easily!  Either be gentle with your heart and break off a small piece or crush the whole thing in your hand and get right to the soft centre, for a really generous, decadent massage.  This one uses fair trade shea and murumuru butters, instead of cocoa butter, for a light shell that smooshes in your hand.  Inside is the soft core of squishy almond
oil, agave syrup, cupuacu and glycerine.  Scented with vanilla absolute, jasmine and ylang ylang, it makes for a very seductive rub down! Vegan

From Dusk ‘Til Dawn…

Quite simply, when it’s Valentine’s Day, you don’t want your partner falling asleep on you after you’ve just given them an amazing massage. This one is designed to give you an energising, stimulating boost to keep you…ahem, up…from dusk ‘til dawn!  Shaped like a cone, you can use the pointy end to rub out any knotted muscles, aches and pains.  Made with moisturising and softening cocoa and shea butters, along with nutritious moringa oil.  Scented with an uplifting blend
of sweet wild orange oil and lemon oil, with ginseng, ginkgo powder and guarana seed for added kick! Vegan

Not only are we introducing these two new bars for Valentine’s Day, but we have also reformulated the current range of massage bars.  The new aerated formula is 20% lighter than before, which means you don’t need as much for the same effects, and made with fair trade, fully traceable cocoa butter.

Choose from:  Hottie, Wiccy Magic Muscles, Soft Coeur, Each Peach (and Two’s a Pair) and Black Stockings.

Willow Pattern soap…

..inspired by a Korean artist who we’ve worked with in soap sculpture, this gorgeous new soap is reminiscent of a Willow Pattern china plate, depicting a romantic tale of starcrossed lovers in an intricate carving in blue on the top.  The soap base has corn flour and talc added to it for extra nourishing properties to soften dry, sore skin.  There’s also skin nourishing rose
absolute, rose oil and rosewood oil, so skin will be left thoroughly softened and delicately scented with roses.

"Panna ki tamannah hai ki heera mujhe mil jaayeeee "... heard of this oldie hit ?? (for those who didin't just head on to you tube). So, Emerald has been chosen as Pantone color of the year 2013( i have No idea who or what pantone is) &  .. I can't help but this song just happens to pop in my head every time I see anything green ..

{For those who don't understand Hindi, this is an extract of  a romantic song in which Panna/ Emerald longs to be with Heera/Diamond}

So, if you are thinking of  "How to Include Emerald in your Makeup"  ~~ Here's a small idea from moi. Yup, an Emerald green nail paint .

Company Claims "High on shine and bang on trend, these elegant shades are always there by your side. Our high-quality formulas contain a blend of non-harmful plasticizers which modify the nail enamel film to be flexible, thus resisting chipping and cracking. It also provides proper hardness, gloss and adhesion to the nail. TOLUENE & DBP, Camphor and Formaldéhyde free. Perfect glide and full colour on application. Safe for your nails"

Faces Canada "Emerald Dazzle" is a pretty emerald shade but bit lighter. It's got oodles of shine and perfect for those who dare to paint their nail bright.Quite a fashion statement by itself, i guess. In the pictures, the color may seem to have bit of blue undertone, but it doesn't. However it does not have any glitter.

The long brush is good enough. No streaking. No chipping for 3-4 days without top coat.Easy to remove with nail polish remover.Does not leave a stain on nails

Price- 199 INR for 9ml

Hope you like the piccy's below ! =)

My Rating : 3.5/5

Final Verdict : Some may feel its a bit pricey , but if you like some shine...you can definitely grab it ! Personally am not much fan of a shiny green nail paint..But I do like to try out other shades ! Check my review on this GORGEOUS PURPLE SHADE HERE

What outfit would you wear with emerald dazzle on your nails??

Damsel Distress ! : Budget Skin care product suggestion Acne on Combination Skin

Samya asks "Hi....I have a dry skin and oily  "T" zone region...am suffering from acne on my chin, cheeks, nose region...these acne are not painful..but yea if i fiddle to much with it it leaves a dark scar..which takes ages to go... can you suggest me something. "

Tha
nks Samya for writing to me !

I would like you to follow a proper Cleansing-Toning-Moisturizing Routine every single day. Even if you are applying very light makeup, clean up properly. Drink plenty of water. Don't overstress yourself. Sometimes acne may be due to hormonal changes. Its always recommended to visit a dermatologist who can help you

If you are having a breakout, stop using any cosmetic product(makeup or skin care) .Check if you are having dandruff. Stop using hair oil (if you have to use, apply for 15-30 minutes and then rinse off)

Product Suggestion :

CLEANSING : Use a mild , soap and fragrance free cleansing lotion to wash face twice daily - Episoft or Cetaphil.

Or else you can go for Khadi Cucumber Cleansing Milk , Himalaya Herbals Refreshing Cleansing Lotion,Lotus Lemon pure cleansing lotion (review soon) But this are not fragrance or paraben free.

Also if you want you can Go for a face wash in day and cleansing milk at night.

Face wash Recommendation : Aroma magic anti pollution face wash,Lotus Tea tree face wash,Neutragena deep clean face wash (love it) and Himalaya Neem face wash

TONING : Check for Non-comedogenic and non alcoholic in the label ( a rare combo though!). As you have combination skin, pay more attention to your T zone. You can try Neutragena Black Head Eliminating toner. It's bit pricey and does have alcohol..but worth buying.(review soon)

Or, else you can go for Aroma Magic Aromatic TonerFabIndia Rose water.

MOISTURIZING : Again try non comedogenic moisuturiser like Cetaphil, Moise or Elovera (you can get all these in medicine shops)

Or else try, Auravedic aloe vera gel will be good for summers. Also try Neutrogena Oil free moisturizer for Combination Skin. If you want more suggestions, just click HERE
