Okay, when my friend put up the fact that Revlon balm stains were being stocked by the Forum Shopper’s Stop, Kolkata, I was so excited that I immediately rushed off to the place and bought myself one. I was pretty kicked up about the fact that I had reached there first, and when my BFF saw the color, she had to buy one too, so now we both are lippy buddies. Although I had initially targeted the rose colored one, ultimately I selected this after a lip swatch, and let me tell you, I am really pleased with my choice.

My Take on Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain:
So I will confess that I am pretty much in love with the Clinique Chubby sticks but the price is a huge turn off. Even Colorbar has come up with something called the “Take me as I am” lipsticks, but they are really difficult to use, and has to be sharpened (which is a big turn off for me) and costs 699/- when I last saw them. To me, that is an incredible waste of money for a product which will need to be sharpened (eek!).
The first thing I loved about the Revlon Balm Stains was the packaging. It is packaged similar to the chubby sticks but I will have to say that I have checked them out and these too, and Revlon wins in term of sturdiness of package. The package looks like a thick marker pen, which makes it quite unique and it stands out from the rest of the products in my kitty. That is a big bonus for women like me with eyes that have high minus power. Once you pull off the cap, you would be facing a very crayon-like fat stick, like the fatter cousin of Nyx jumbo pencils. However, you would not have to sharpen these. Just twist the bottom, and the product will come out as much as you want. The system is retractable, so those of you who are extra panicked about lipstick tops opening inside your bag, you can always twist it all the way down to avoid it.
To apply, just smooth it all over your lips, starting from the center of your top lip. I have generally begun to apply the lipstick like a pencil, lining my lips first, and then filling in the color.
The lip stain is quite moisturizing, but not so much that it bleeds, and glides on without any tugging or pulling. The smell lightly minty, and right after application my lips tingle slightly with it. I love that!
In tube, it is a dark plum shade, and borderline scary, but on my lips it is a rich, creamy, pinkish plum, sheer shade that can be totally built upon to cover pigmentation, which just makes me look good and brightens up whatever outfit I am wearing. I have used this in both traditional as well as casual looks in the last few days, and I have to say, I am quite happy with the results.
The staying power is about 3-4 hours, and then it leaves behind a really flattering dark pink stain which is quite flattering as well. The only thing I personally don’t like perhaps is, like the lip butter, the price, which is uncompromisingly 600/- while in the US this apparently retails for $8, which is about 150/- more here. Why so, Revlon? Nevertheless, I love this color to death, and now I want the coral, red and the orange from this range.
