My Views on Go chic quad Wine Timed:
If you are looking for a cheap and a decent eye shadow quad for general or better say all-purpose wear then these Go chic quads by Faces can surely be given a try. I have been using a lot many range and brands of eye shadows till now and comparable to those this gets a fair rating from my side. I am not wholly impressed with it but there’s nothing much to complain even judging the purpose and price which the brand claims for it.
Shades: The 4 shades in the quad (from L-R) are
- Shimmery pale pink/more of white only highlighter
- A sort of satin finish candy pink.
- A shimmery grey taupe shade.
- A matte black plum/wine color.
The candy pink shade is more powdery. Though the color is nice still working with it is bit of a task. Better pat on the color rather than applying it with a blending action.
The shimmery taupe is another hit in this quad. The color is lovely, the texture is soft and the shimmer is nice too. A great color to work on alone itself.
The last matte wine/blackened plum color is hard and the least pigmented in the whole e/s quad. I had expected it to be more wine than black even :P. Though it should have been a highlight of this ‘Wine Timed’ quad still one needs patience to build the color.
Staying power: No complaints in this section. The eye shadows stay on pretty well for hours together even without a proper base underneath them, though I would definitely recommend a good primer for these so as to pop out the true colors of this quad. You won’t be able to see the actual shades on the bare eye.
Packaging: The plastic package is cheap in look and feel. The applicator is useless. Faces cosmetics have increased the price of these quads by 100/- few months back so I think they should look into improving the packaging even.
Swatches in different light-
On my eyes-
I just tried an EOTD with the quad shades. Applied the 4th as a base and used the pink (2nd) in the centre of the lid though blending it covered up the complete lid later as I was trying to build the color and it was just everywhere. I used the taupe (3rd) below the lash line and highlighter (1st) on the brow bone and in the inner corner of the eyes. No primer has been used for this simple look.
Pros of Faces Go Chic Eye Shadow Quad Wine Timed:
- Cheap
- Good quantity
- Decent pigmentation. The first and the third shades are nicely pigmented.
- Good quad for achieving a nice everyday kind of a subtle look.
- No chunky glitters.
- Stays on pretty well.
Cons of Faces Go Chic Eye Shadow Quad Wine Timed:
- Pigmentation could have been better.
- You need a good primer underneath them to enhance the shades better.
- The applicator is useless.
- Packaging looks cheap.
- The last matte shade is difficult to work with. The candy pink color(second one) has a bit of fall-out even.
My Rating:3.25/5
Final Thoughts:A good quad for beginners or for someone who is looking for a nice general purpose eye shadow quad to create subtle everyday looks.
