Bourjois Lip Liner Prune Caresse Review and Swatches

I love adore heart cherish Bourjois, and when I saw that they had an offer where when you buy products worth 1200/- you get the cutest ever bag free, I jumped and purchased eye pencils, backups, lip pencils and backups. I am cautious that way. This color is one of my favorites, and I bought my first one a year back when they were priced around 200/-. A year later I return to see them priced at 295/- and apparently Bourjois is going to raise the prices of their products again (Why Bourjois Why!). However, I needed this color as I have purchased a truly daring shade and needed something to line it with.

Bourjois Lip Liner Claims: HIGH DEFINITION AND LONG-WEARING LIP LINER FOR ULTRA LIP COMFORT. Its ultra-soft khol tip draws a smooth and precise lip contour to line the lips and prevents your lipstick from running for hours on end! Enriched with mineral and plant pigments (rose and green tea) it is good for your skin. The formula is easy to blend, comfortable and smoothly glides onto the lips, leaving a soft velvety finish. Available in a wide range of shades that match the Sweet Kiss naturel lipstick colours.

My Take on Bourjois Lip Liner #17 Prune Caresse  :
A wooden lip liner must be sharpened, and I do so faithfully before lining my lips with this color. It’s a true plum shade, bordering towards violet, and goes absolutely matte on my skin, although when you apply it, the color glides on like a dream. Although it looks more towards brown when its in the pencil form, the swatches you see capture the color perfectly.

This is the color I turn to when I want to make a statement. I recently have started loving dark colors again, and Prune Caresse is a truly dark and divine shade, perfect for the night. It’s the perfect accompaniment of MAC Diva, a dark, divine shade of burgundy I swear by.

Application, as I said, is a dream. I do need to sharpen it before lining my lips with it. Not every time though. A little goes a long way. I also fill up my lips sometimes with this color before application of the lipstick, to make sure my lippy lasts me a long time. On its own, this lip liner, topped with a balm has lasted me an impressive 5 hours, leaving behind a lovely dark stain. It does not bleed at all, and in fact, stops lipsticks from bleeding, and does not tug. It is completely matte, and has a creamy formula which settles on my lips and after a while I feel as if I am wearing nothing. It does not transfer after settling which is a huge plus point for me.

Although it is drying on its own, you can always use it as a lipstick by priming your lips with a lip balm first. I generally outline my lips with it, fill a bit of balm inside, and then apply the color inside, using it sparingly to make it look more like a lip stain than an actual lipstick. It will dry your lips, so yes, cautious application is a must.

On my lips the color is a true plum, with burgundy undertones, and yes, the reminder of prunes is pretty strong. I love this when I am wearing something black, or in shades of blue, and would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a dark lip pencil for a dramatic look. The price is pretty reasonable, considering the fact that my last lip pencil lasted me a year.
