Hey all you pretty ladies :)

My today’s post is rather an occasion for me as this was kind of the beginning of my end..err..my money’s end :P this is that historical lipstick from which I came to know the brand name MAC *and of course kept on buying and buying :-/* :D and I can’t really recall anything else which made me run after it so relentlessly and for so long ! yes I know by now you guys have already guessed ;) its none other than Ruby Woo……

Frankly I had given up hope of getting ruby woo *yes that’s right I live in Kolkata where we get to see the tester only :’( * but a dear friend got for me and sent me *bearhugs* :D so ta-da!!!

What MAC says-
Ruby Woo is described as a “very matte vivid blue-red”

*aahh finally I am able to write this phrase in my very own review woooo* :D

Price- 990 INR  for 3gm
 My take on the product:

Ruby Woo comes in the classic standard MAC black with silver tube packaging which is chic and classy and travel friendly as well

Since MAC describes Ruby Woo as *very matte* that’s enough really to get an idea! Let me elaborate!

My first MAC lippie was Russian Red and that is matte too but somehow never dried out my lips or ever tugged while applying. Now I had the same idea of Ruby Woo but sadly it turned out to be less a lipstick and more a crayon :P and I am sitting in sweltering heat of Kolkata so you can imagine what will happen in winter

To get the first deep swipe even on my hand I had to drag and tug the bullet and on dry/unexfoliated lips..well..let’s just not go there! It does take a bit of an effort to apply but once it does oh boy!! It is soo flattering :D I now understand what exactly is a cult red *you have to have Ruby Woo to realize* it looks good no matter what no matter when and how and on whom

It is a perfect red which has blue undertones but does lean more on the orangey side than Russian Red which is a strictly cool toned red! Ruby Woo creates the balance . Where some ladies may not be able to carry off its close cousin russian red, Ruby Woo is a clear winner for all

It is madly pigmented and opaque and a couple of swipes and you are set for the day! Does not bleed/feather and stays on and on throughout the day! And well it sadly dries out even my normal lips so it’s good to top it up with some balm when you feel uneasy.

Pros of MAC Retro Matte Ruby Woo-

  • Classic MAC packaging which is travel friendly as well
  • Ruby Woo is well..ruby woo! The perfect *cult* red which goes on everyone and makes every lady look elegant yet ravishing
  • Ruby woo is the perfect balance of warm and cool tones which justifies why it looks great on all complexions :D
  • It lasts on and on throughout the day without any feathering or bleeding or fading
  • It is insanely pigmented and opaque and 2 swipes is enough to get its full color.
  • Classic clean vanilla fragrance of MAC.

Cons of MAC Retro Matte Ruby Woo-

  • The texture sadly, fails me :-/ I hate dry lippies and this is probably the driest I have ever come across

My rating- 4/5 (-1 for the difficulty in application and drying out lips)

Do I recommend? :D I would be mad not to! Colorwise, crazewise Ruby woo is a must if you like everyone else wants classic red lips which will stand out yet not be too garish red  the color, the staying power and the universally flattering shade will never fail you that’s for sure!

But weirdly enough for me *someone who has been running after this for so long* Russian Red wins more points! Russian red is brighter, more pigmented, less dry and more blue-red! On my complexion I feel it looks better *I can’t believe I am saying this:P* and I do love it more than ruby woo! *sorry blind ruby woo fans :-/ I have to be honest here*

Texture wise too Russian red behaves far better and is smoother without drying out lips .But ruby woo mostly remains OOS so if you do manage to get your hands on this baby hang on tightly! It surely is worth the investment :D

Comparison between ruby woo and Russian red-

Left-russian red, right- ruby woo *can you see the difference?*

My LOTD- (had to apply it on top of a balm)

And this is how it looks on me!! :D

So ladies shake off your dilemma rush to MAC and stay gorgeous <3 sayonara!!
